SPO Tecnologia, a startup from Rio Grande do Sul and part of the Grupo Atlantar, specializing in the development of autonomous Artificial Intelligence agents, has been selected as one of the finalists of Atrion. The innovation center of Hospital Moinhos de Vento focuses on connecting startups and major national companies to develop and validate innovative ideas and solutions designed to meet the future demands of the healthcare industry.
“This selection recognizes SPO’s ability to deliver disruptive solutions that combine technical precision with human impact in the healthcare chain. It reinforces our role as digital transformation agents, bringing to one of the country’s leading hospitals the expertise of a company that has already delivered more than 200 solutions across 10 countries,” highlights CEO Odair Pianta.
In the healthcare sector, SPO presents SUSI, an AI specialist that operates directly through WhatsApp to combat patient no-shows — a problem that, according to data from Fiocruz (2022), the Conselho Federal de Medicina (2023), and studies by UFMG/Unifesp published in Ciência & Saúde Coletiva (2021), causes 3 out of every 10 medical appointments in Brazil to simply not happen.
How does SUSI work?
Through natural and empathetic communication, SUSI is designed to:
• Reduce no-shows by up to 60% through automated reminders and confirmations;
• Perform autonomous rescheduling by interpreting audio and text messages and updating management systems in real time;
• Execute image-based screenings, identifying potential skin lesion risks with over 90% accuracy.
“Being among the Atrion finalists reaffirms our purpose of ‘people serving people.’ We want technology to be a means to save lives and optimize healthcare professionals’ time,” reinforces Júlio Feiden, CRO of SPO Tecnologia.
Participation in the Hospital Moinhos de Vento program will allow SPO to deepen its co-creation and experimentation methodology (Atrion.Labs), integrating its intelligent agents into highly complex hospital ecosystems.
